Introducing the Author

Patrick J. McNamara was born in the city of Limerick. Educated in Ireland and London, he later served with the Royal Air Force. A retired civil servant and a lecturer with a special interest in both the civil and military history of Ireland.

The author of The Widow's Penny, the McNamara Military Roll of Honour, Their Name Liveth For Evermore, The Military History of Limerick, and soon to be released The Last Farewell, he has published numerous articles dealing with Ireland's involvement in the Great War and World War II.

He is the Clan McNamara Military Historian, a member of the Military History Society of Ireland, the Royal Dublin Fusiliers Association and the Connaught Rangers Association.
